Bovey Valley Runners turned out in great numbers for the Santa Dash in Bovey Tracey on Saturday.
There were three distances of 1K,2K & 5K. They headed out with almost 200 Santa’s. It was a great afternoon with lots of community spirit.
The run started in Mill Marsh Park, headed along the old railway track and returned to a finish line of fake snow, balloons & cheer at the Jolly Roger.
All the runners enjoyed a warm mince pie & mulled wine on completion. A really great atmosphere & monies raised for two great causes – Bovey Tracey lifesaving club & Bristol Children’s hospital. BVR will definitely be back next year.
On Sunday two BVR members, Maurice Raymont and David Black, joined 34 other runners and took part in Purple Gecko’s, Haldon Forest 10mile race.
A two-lap race taking in some of the best trails Haldon has to offer with over 570 metres of elevation with a long climb to the finish. A tough yet enjoyable course with almost perfect running weather. Maurice finished the course in 1:41:23 and David in 2:29:55
