Run Report – 14 June 2021

On Saturday Anna Gocher and Maurice Raymont ventured into Cornwall for the Purple Gecko Rock to Boscastle marathon.

This followed the coastal path, very undulating, but giving fantastic views of the North Cornwall coast. Unfortunately, this meant many, many hills, and many, many steps!

The route from Rock went up to Polzeath then on to Port Isaac – followed by a long slog to Tintagel and then the home stretch into Boscastle.

They both completed the run in 6:42:58, with Anna claiming the award for the 3rd female home.

Meanwhile on Sunday Rob White had travelled to Kent for the Saxon Shore Half Marathon – a there and back from Whitstable to Herne Bay along the mainly flat promenade.

The day dawned with an early blue sky and temperatures were soon rising over 30 degrees.

The rolling start meant that it was gone 10:00am before the last of the 600 runners departed Whitstable Castle, and the lack of any sea breeze combined with the hot day meant there were several casualties seen collapsed along the course.

Despite starting off feeling strong Rob soon succumbed to the high temperatures and was subjected to a very tough run to complete the distance in a time of 2:32:53
