Four BVR runners were in action at the First Chance event organised by South West Road Runners, with 500 runners taking the opportunity to run their first 10k of 2024.
Conditions were cold at the start with a frost overnight so the course could have been quite treacherous in places. However, in true Exeter Quay Style the sun came out and running conditions were near perfect for this flat fast 10K race which kicked off at 10.30am.
The start was just in front of the diving bell and finished outside Haven Banks Education Centre.
There were runners from varying running clubs and all levels of ability which made it a really nice race to do.
The route was slightly different to previous years although still out and back to the swing bridge at Countess Wear and was supported by spectators at various key point along the route. The marshals did a sterling job at each point along the route with clear directions and encouragement.
Well done to Amanda Hemelik 45:42, Mary Cornish 52:54 (a new PB), Slly Shoolbraid 56:27 and Sinead Jefferies 54:57.
