Exeter City Community Trust held their 2022 Half Marathon last weekend, a flat route on footpath and cycle track that brought success for two of our club members – David Black and Kirsty Pearce.
The race began and ended at the Piazza Terracina on Exeter quayside. The runners attempted sheltering from the rain while fitting a warmup in before a safety briefing and setting off at 9am.
Unfortunately, the weather was not very favourable with lots of rain and cold wind, however the supportive marshal’s and brilliant runners made a great atmosphere.
While the rain did ease up, the large puddles ensured the runners were left soaking wet.
This race was David’s first official half marathon, finishing in 2:36:25 huge congratulations to David. Kirsty knocked 5 minutes off her personal best finishing in 2:13:41, a brilliant achievement. Both commented on the brilliant medals which happily made up for the weather.
