All members will receive weekly email updates of the Wednesday evening training sessions
Monday Evening
Time: 6:30pm
Meeting Place: Station Road Car Park opposite Mill Marsh Park
Training: Running Development – an hour of running development exercises, sessions vary each week to include hill sprints, circuits and interval training.
Tuesday Evening
Date: The next Couch to 5K group will start on Tuesday 3rd Sept 2024 at The Cromwell Arms function room, Fore Street, Bovey Tracey.
There is no running on this first meeting, but an opportunity to meet the leaders and find out more.
The programme starts on Tuesday 10 Sept 2024 at 7pm – it will be a 12-week course
Time: 7pm
Training: Couch to 5km (C-5K) – for absolute beginners. Over a period of weeks the C-5K programme aims to encourage beginners into running. The first session is only 30 minutes consisting of 5 minutes warm up walk, 1 minute jogs intersected with 1.5 minute walks, and then a 5 minute cool down walk. By the end of the programme we aim to get you running for a whole 30 minutes/5km.
Wednesday Evening
Time: 7pm
Meeting Place: Station Road Car Park opposite Mill Marsh Park
Training: Group Runs – there are 5 different groups:
- Blue Group: Progress Group suited to those who have recently completed the Couch-to-5k programme
- Orange Group: 12:30 to 14:30 min/mile or 7:45 to 9 min/km pace. Max distance approx 4 miles
- Purple Group: 10:30 to 12:30 min/mile or 6:30 to 7:45 min/km pace. 5 – 6 miles
- Yellow Group: 8:30 to 10:30 min/mile or 5:15 to 6:30 min/km pace. Up to 7 miles
- Green Group: <9:00 min/mile or 5:30 min/kmĀ pace. For more experienced runners, often involving trails or hills (note that sometimes this group starts in other locations – the weekly email will provide details)
Each group operates a run leader so no-one gets left behind. If you are unsure which pace group you would be suited to, it’s best to start slow then work your way up!
