Bovey Valley Runners were delighted to be able to get Couch to 5K back this year.
Last week 9 of the BVR runners completed their graduation run. It was a very cold & dark evening run along the old railway path but despite the conditions everyone turned out with smiles & great energy.
Couch to 5K is a fundamental part of Bovey Valley Runners. It’s always an event where the rest of the club celebrate their great achievement. A special mention has to go to Rosie, our most mature C-5K runner to date at 72 years young. Rosie said on the night, “it just goes to show, anything is possible if you put your mind to it”.
The training programme is led by BVR Chair, Jacqui Baker, who said that “It always brings a real sense of pride to see new members achieve their goals. When many believed they couldn’t run for a minute a few months back to now running a confident 5K. Everyone did a fantastic run on the night & I can’t wait to see them all join us on Wednesdays for our main club runs.”
The group celebrated at their base in Bovey Tracey Football Club where they were awarded their medals & shared a celebration evening.
And up in Haldon Forest Purple Gecko held their latest run in the Winter Series.
This was an extremely undulating course, and on a very fresh morning there was just under 50 runners in the 10k event.
BVR was represented by Jenny Williams 1:04:53, Debbie Chew 1:04:56, Beccy Kennedy-Bruyneels 1:06:13, and in the 10K Canicross Sarah Harvey completed the course in 1:04:19
