This weekend a few of our members competed in the Pure Trail races at Widecombe.
The Hameldown 7-mile run, a trail event starting with a challenging 2.5-mile steep incline out of Widdicombe. With breath-taking views of the moorland and beyond, while navigating undulating tracks. The sunny weather and slight breeze, combined with the relaxed atmosphere from the runners, made for a brilliant event with a well-supported group of race marshals.
This race brought success for Maurice Raymont who finished in 1:18:06 seconds placed 14th overall, a new personal best for this route.
Victoria Latham finished in 1:23:17, Debbie Chew 1:26:53, Jenny Williams 1:28:17, and Claire Watts 1:41:50.
Taking part in the Hameldown Hammer – a half-marathon distance – was Anna Gocher and Rob White. This started on the same route as the 7, but then headed out beyond for more hills before returning into Widecombe after 750m of ascent.
Rob finished in 2:30:35 and Anna in 2:38:44.
And finally, Sharon Scanlan achieved a new personal best this weekend at Exeter Quay running the 10k race in 1:07:00, a PB by 4 minutes. Well done, Sharon!
