There were quite a few long distance runners competing from BVR in the last week.
Up in Manchester, Sally Shoolbraid took part in the Marathon which had nearly 20,000 finishers. It is known as a fast, flat and friendly route with a start and finish at Old Trafford. Sallly finished in an excellent time of 4:49:30.
On the same weekend Steph Alder was over in Wales at the Newport Marathon, with a route that encompasses the town and the local countryside. Steph crossed the line with a great time of 5:09:39.
And finally, this weekend was the iconic London Marathon, and the author can confirm that it was just an amazing experience. Even though the weather tried to dampen the city spirits it did not dissuade the thousands of spectators who were out on the streets supporting the 30,000 runners.
If you only run one marathon, then make it the London Marathon!
BVR was represented by Emma Smart in an amazing time of 4:15:07, Rob White 4:33:12 and Ilona Baughan 4:52:13.
