Last weekend there were quite a few varied events around the locality with representatives from Bovey Valley Runners.
At the Westpoint Arena in Exeter the 5k Race for Life had Emma Hensley and Jackie Wells taking part – a muddy time was had by all in this short, but fun, event!
Down in Cornwall Purple Gecko held the third race in their Saints and Smugglers Challenge – this is a 26 mile challenge along the South West Coast path – from Rock just outside Padstow all the way to Boscastle. A brutal course with 2,000 m of ascent.
Anna Gocher came home in 3rd place with an excellent time of 6:08:14
Saturday evening was cloudy, and the Meavy Fair was in full swing, leading up to the start of the Burrator Horseshoe race, the 3rd race in the Dartmoor Fell Series.
The fell race succumbed to wet and windy weather just as the event started – taking off from Meavy, up to Burrator Dam and then on, and up, to Sheepstor and Gutter Tor before the long descent back into the village.
Rob White completed the 10k course in 1:00:04.

And on Sunday morning, Plymouth was hosting three distances for runners, this year Claire Harrison and Kate Morgan-West took part in the 10k race with Claire finishing in 1:06:29 and Kate in 1:06:30.
