The choice of races this week for Bovey Valley Runners was flat or hilly.
By the Exe estuary there was the Starcross Shuffle from Winding Paths. Heading along the Estuary Trail past the Turf Lock Hotel, and then back to Starcross.
This is an endurance race where you can choose to run as many laps as you like in the 7 hours available.
Single laps were completed by Nicola Huckerby 1:07:30 and Julie Gibbons 1:27:56, whilst Jill Bishop ran two laps making a half marathon in a time of 2:31:25.
The hilly option was the Drogo 10 race from South West Road Runners. This is always a very popular event, with over 400 taking part this year.
Starting at the Castle Drogo it descends down the valley to the river, and then heads east. After 3 miles you hit the first big climb, and then onwards on an undulating route through the forest before returning down to the river.
The route then takes you back alongside the river to cross at Fingle Bridge and the final brutal climb up the Hunters Path, and back to the castle. The 10 mile race has just under 500m of ascent.
Louise Webb finished in a great time of 1:31:21, and Rob White in 1:46:13.
