Run Report – 7 June 2021

Well it has been quite a while since you have seen us in the pages of the MDA – but we are back!!

The club has continued through these troubled times with various virtual events, and we are back with our Wednesday night training runs – all details available on our website www.boveyvalleyrunners.org.uk

And we have also started to see the return of organised events under COVID secure controls.

On Saturday at Powderham Castle there was the Conquer 24 event, a new event on the race calendar. This consisted of a 5 mile route in the grounds of the castle with a choice of options – 5 mile, 10 mile, or as many laps as you can in 24 hours.

The weather was hot and humid which made for quite challenging conditions over the hilly course.

Stuart Webster outshone us all in completing 13 laps, totalling 62.97 miles. Su Webster took part in the 10 miler, her first race since completing Couch to 5K, finishing in 2:08:36.

We also had Anna Gocher completing 43.76 miles, Frazer Bolt 25 miles, and Jenny Naylor 15 miles.

Sunday was the day of the Burrator 10k – a fast, flat route almost entirely on tarmac encompassing just under 2 laps of the road around the reservoir.

There was a large turnout from the club, with many taking the opportunity to record PBs for the distance.

Again it was a warm 20 degree day on the mainly flat course, with a big turnout of over 500 runners in rolling waves to start.

Well done to Pete Waygood, Sally Amphlett, Sharon Scanlan, Emma Mann, Helen Smith, Tara Knight, Emma Hensley, Claire Haribo, Kate Mary and Ruth Bushell.
